Device Driver Installation Package Q2 2011 for Veritas Storage Foundation 5.1 SP1 and SP2 for Windows (SFW HA) and Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing 5.1 for Windows (DMPW)

Solution

DDI Q2 2011 is the current package, please read the Readme.pdf located inside the download package for up-to-date information about this package and installation instructions.

New additions/enhancements for Dynamic Multipathing (DMP) Device-Specific Module's (DSM) in this DDI package:

IBM DS5100
IBM DS5300
DMP DSM support (VPROMISE) for PROMISE VTrak™ Ex30 array

Modified the following Veritas DMP DSMs to updated version 5.1.22000.21:
  VNETAPP
  VENGAP
  VEMCCLAR

Notes on DMP DSM support for PROMISE Ex30 array

If installing DMP DSM support for a PROMISE Ex30 array on Windows Server 2008, make sure that you first install the hot fix referenced in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB968287.

Note the following guidelines for PROMISE Ex30 ALUA configuration:
One PROMISE controller can be the optimized path of a LUN. The other PROMISE controller can be the standby path of a LUN.

The VPROMISE DSM detects the PROMISE array in ALUA mode as Active/Passive – Asymmetric (A/P-A).

The VPROMISE DSM does not support a PROMISE “ALUA” or “Active/Active with LUN affinity” array configuration mode in a multiple node environment where one node is only connected to one PROMISE controller, and the other node is only connected to the other PROMISE controller.

If a PROMISE storage path fails, the failing condition should be corrected as soon as possible.

If a cluster disk group is not active in one node but it is active on the other node, during reboot or path failure on the inactive node, the inactive node may show missing disk(s) for the inactive cluster disk group. You can resolve a missing disk(s) issue by reconnecting all paths to the PROMISE controllers and performing a VEA rescan.

General Notes
The DDI Q2 2011 package requires that one of the following be installed:
SFW or SFW HA 5.1 SP1 (with or without DDI-1 for 5.1 SP1)

SFW or SFW HA 5.1 SP2

DMPW 5.1 (the standalone DMP for Windows product)

This DDI release contains mpioprov.dll and vxdmpadm.exe. The version of mpioprov.dll and vxdmpadm.exe are updated to 5.1.21000.8.

Notes about hardware compatibility

Symantec maintains a Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) for Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions for Windows products on the Symantec Support web site. The HCL gives information on HBAs, firmware, and switches that have been tested with each supported array. Check the HCL for details about your hardware before installing this DDI package.

For SFW or SFW HA 5.1 SP1, refer to the 5.1 SP1 HCL for the latest list of supported arrays:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77195

For SFW or SFW HA 5.1 SP2 or DMPW 5.1, refer to the 5.1 SP2 HCL for the latest list of supported arrays:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH138719

IMPORTANT
Storage arrays may require additional configuration steps or updates to work with Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows and MPIO. Contact the manufacturer of the storage array for details.
