Issue

After installation, automated configuration of VOM 4.1 and successful https connection to VOM console prompting for login,  the root login fails.

Error

Error V-394-53245-73
Failed to Log in. User is not Authorize

Environment

All Unix hosts

Cause

VOM  is particular about gid for root login.

Solution

Discovered Solaris root user gid was not 0 but 1

 # cat /etc/passwd
root:x:0:1:Super-User:/:/sbin/sh
. . .

[tenzing] # cat /etc/group
root::1:

Change the group gid to "0" on the VOM unix host.

VOM assumes root root belongs to group gid "0".
