VMware Backup using Backup Exec fails with Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine

Backup jobs using the Backup Exec Agent for VMware (AVVI) fail with the error message provided below. Addtionally if the beremote or sgmon logs (configured to monitor the remote agent) on the media server are reviewed then a 16053 error will be recorded similar to:
VM_VCBPROXY_FS::OpenObj() Could not open the disk '[Datastore] virtualmachine/virtualmachine.vmdk' DiskCompatibility: 'dependent' DiskMode 'persistent' Error Text: 'One or more required subsystems failed to initialize' Error: '16053'
Note: related to this 16053 error, Symantec have also received reports of a process crash against beremote.exe.
E0009585 - Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine. VixDiskLib_Open() reported the error: One or more required subsystems failed to initialize.
This issue appear to be caused by a mismatch between the files located in the VMware Folder (X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Vmware\VixDiskLib\bin) and those in the base folder of Backup Exec (X:\program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec). The current file list that might cause the mismatch being:
Customers experiencing the crash condition are encouraged to contact Symantec Technical Support before implementing the workaround as data is still being collected to assist in resolving this issue.
1. Search for the Files Listed in the Cause section in the Base Directory (i.e X:\Program files\symantec\Backup Exec where x is the default installation drive) and Move or Delete the Files out of the Backup Exec base folder (If present). Note the Backup Exec servcies may not to be stopped to do this.
2. Restart the Backup exec Services and run the backup.
