What is SepLiveUpdate.exe and how can it be used?
SepLiveUpdate.exe is a small command-line utility that is included with the default installation of the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.1 client. Launching SepLiveUpdate.exe starts a LiveUpdate session through the SEP client's built-in LiveUpdate Engine (LUE). This utility can be used to launch LiveUpdate Engine (LUE) sessions through a script or scheduled task in Windows.
Starting SepLiveUpdate from the desktop causes a command prompt window to open. When the session completes, the window closes without the need for user interaction. The utility can also be launched from the command line, or through a script. There are no command line switches or options available in the tool.
By default, SepLiveUpdate.exe is located in the following folder:
- \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\ on 64-bit versions of Windows
- \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\ on 32-bit versions of Windows
