Problem

You need to know which paths are supported when upgrading to the latest release of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 from previous releases of Symantec Endpoint Protection, or when migrating from a legacy product, such as Symantec AntiVirus.

Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection	All versions of Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection up to 5.1 (5.1.1) can be migrated to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1, 12.1.1 or 12.1.1.1, enterprise version only. They cannot be migrated to any version of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition. Releases later than 5.1 cannot be migrated.

You may want to install Symantec Endpoint Protection from scratch without migrating the legacy software. If you skip the migration, you do not import the legacy settings.

To skip the migration of legacy products:

Uninstall the legacy virus protection software from your servers and client computers.
During Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager installation, do not select the migration option.
After initial product installation, use Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to adjust the group settings and policy settings.
Deploy the Symantec Endpoint Protection client to the unprotected legacy computers.
