Problem
Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI) backup jobs with File System Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) enabled report a large list of 'directory does not support GRT' messages. Subsequent running of the same backup job may show a different list of affected folders and/or some affected VMs intermittently not reporting the issue at all.
Typical examples of folders affected include:
- Subfolders of Windows ( i.e. C:\Windows\Setup )
- User Profile folders (i.e. C\Users\name\Pictures and C\Documents and Settings\name\My Documents )
- Subfolders with the Windows 2008 System Reserved Partition ( i.e. Volume{21f69659-7fe1-11e0-a765-806e6f6e6963}\Boot\cs-CZ )
Note: This particular issue has been reported where all volumes contained in the affected Virtual Machines (VMs) are Basic and in Primary Partitions in their own VMDK files.
