Issue



In some conditions, you need access to the kernel-hugemem-devel packages to install drivers or software on the SSIM appliance


Error



Some RPM packages provided by some third party vendor require the development kernel packages to be present. By default they are not installed on the appliance.


Solution



When an ISO is provided, the kernel package can be found on the DVD in the \RedHat\RPMS folder. See Table below with list of the Kernel version:

  • 4.7 - kernel-hugemem-devel-2.6.9-89.0.3.EL.i686.rpm (on release DVD)
  • 4.7 MP1 - kernel-hugemem-devel-2.6.9-89.0.16.EL.i686.rpm (on release DVD)
  • 4.7 PR1 - kernel-hugemem-devel-2.6.9-89.0.16.EL.i686.rpm (on release DVD)
  • 4.7 SP1 - kernel-hugemem-devel-2.6.9-89.0.23.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 MP2 - kernel-hugemem-devel-2.6.9-89.0.23.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 SP2 - kernel-hugemem-devel.2.6.9-89.0.29.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 SP3 - kernel-hugemem-devel.2.6.9-89.31.1.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 MP3 - kernel-hugemem-devel.2.6.9-89.33.1.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 SP4 - kernel-hugemem-devel.2.6.9-100.EL.i686.rpm
  • 4.7 MP4 - kernel-hugemem-devel.2.6.9-100.EL.i686.rpm (on release DVD)
  • 4.8 - kernel-devel-2.6.32-279.5.1.el6.x86_64.rpm
