Issue

After applying latest OS patches from Red Hat, the system hangs at boot. There seems to be a problem loading the sisipsagent driver.

Error

No error - system hangs

Environment

Red Hat 5.x with the updated glibc packages related to http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2011-0901.html (released 27th June 2011)

SCSP agent 5.2.x up to an including 5.2.8.

Cause

The redhat "glibc bug fix update" patch causes the conflict with SCSP. Details of that RHEL patch can be found here: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2011-0901.html

Solution

A Hotfix has been released by development. Please see www.symantec.com/docs/TECH164892 for details

As workaround, one can choose not to install the "glibc bug fix update" patch in the first place or roll back to the previous version of glibc.
