Problem
Diskgroups are not displayed under the storage tab on the page
Managing Summary »
Oracle Instances »
instance_name
when reviewing the clustered storage assigned to the ASM for Oracle or Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters).
Error
ASM storage values are not present in the GUI
Environment
CCS5.2 or higher
Solaris
linux (RedHat, Suse)
AIX
HPUX
Windows
AIX
Veritas Oracle for RAC editions
Cause
The perl script getasm.pl uses created files to capture the directory locations for calling HAL bin and the output directory for data from the explorer and permissions were causing it to fail. The scripts used to collect this information is executed as the 'oracle' user. The script and output file reside in the HAL directory which only has write permission for the 'root' user. Changes to the folder permissions and a new script need to be added to the code
Solution
A hotfix has been created which is designed to:
Perform ASM discovery without creating temporary files. This allows the discovery to work fine in a root only VRTShal/bin folder.
Download and Apply the HotFix (VRTSccs-F520002417112) on the 5.2 Managed hosts.
Follow the OS specific instructions.
Unix: Patch Download
Windows: Patch Download
