Problem
SMP Inventory for Unix unable to gather memory informaton from Solaris x86 computers
Error
Memory information will be missing from reports, resource manager, etc. for certain solaris computers. Debug or Info level logging returns the following information regarding missing FRU ID data:

Environment
Inventory Solution 7.0 and 7.1 for Unix, Linux and Macintosh
Cause
Our current research indicates that this occurs only on x86 computers installed with the Solaris operating system. It does not occur on sparc machines. The FRU (Field Replacable Unit) hardware information is not available with Solaris running on x86 hardware. Research is on-going.
Solution
Alternative methods of gathering memory information is being researched. Custom inventory is a viable alternative until an update is released that resolves this issue.
