How to install the Group Update Provider (GUP) content folder (Shared Updates) in a custom drive/partition?

Issue



You need to know how to have the GUP content folder (Shared Updates) installed in a specific drive/partition.


Solution



The GUP content folder (Shared Updates) is created only after receiving the LiveUpdate policy identifying that specific client as a GUP. This folder is created in the SEP client installation path.

Ideally, export a custom installation package with the desired path (see TECH102817). Then, as explained above, the folder will be created in the specified drive.

 

Alternatively, if there is the need to move the folder, Operating System workarounds can be used. Please refer to the articles below and apply it to the 'Shared Updates' folder instead.
