GRT Backup of an Exchange 2010 (1.9 TB Size) Database fails when Backup is performed to Deduplication Storage Folder


Error



0xe00002f7 - Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup.

Backup- \\Test.org\Microsoft Information Store\MailboxDB1


Unable to complete the operation for the selected resource using the specified options.  The following error was returned when opening the Exchange Database file:  '-1003 An invalid API parameter is being used.'

The default Database page size parameter that should be passed for Exchange 2010 Database should be 32K but in the above case the Database page size is reported as 4K which is the default for Exchange 2003 Stores.


Solution



Workaround :

  1. Disable GRT from the Backup Job.
  2. Backup using GRT to a Backup to Disk folder.
  3. Reduce the size of the backups or reduce the size of the databases being backed up.
