Final error: 0xe000ff11 - A communications failure has occurred with a Linux or Unix resource.

Error

Final error: 0xe000ff11 - A communications failure has occurred with a Linux or Unix resource.

Final error category: Resource Errors

Cause

This issue is caused due to ports being blocked on the linux server.

Solution

Check if the required ports are opened.

Backup Exec uses NDMP Port 10000 for Unix & Linux backup communications. This is required for the control connection to be established.

Backup Exec would also need a range of ports in the Dynamic Port range opened so that the Data connection can be established.

Note: It is recommended to keep a range of ports opened instead of just one because a dynamic port can be engaged by any other application and cause can cause data connection issues. Therefore keep at least 25 ports opened for the remote system.

nmap can be used to see which ports are opened by running the  following command:
nmap -sS -O 127.0.0.1
