The 'Delete archived file when placeholder is deleted' feature fails to delete the archived item in Retention Folders.

Problem
When attempting to delete placeholders from retention folders the placeholder is deleted but the index entry and the stored item are not deleted when the 'Delete archived file when placeholder is deleted' feature is enabled.
Dtrace of the EVPlaceholderService will show the following:

Solution
To resolve this issue apply the hotfix referred to in the "Related Articles" section of this tech note.
