This issue has been resolved in the following release:

Enterprise Vault 9.0.3

Select the option "Delete original items after archiving" and "Create shortcut to archived item after archiving" in the Mailbox policy Archiving Actions.  Synchronize the mailboxes to apply the change. Replace the design of the Domino mail files with the Enterprise Vault Mail template to enable the users to acces the Retention Folders archived items.

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue is currently scheduled to be addressed in the next major revision of the product.
