How to configure an unmanaged Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.1 client to use a proxy for LiveUpdate.

An unmanaged SEP client cannot update definitions via LiveUpdate due to a proxy being used.


The unmanaged SEP client uses a proxy to reach the Symantec LiveUpdate servers.


To configure the LiveUpdate proxy settings on an unmanaged client:

  1. Open the SEP client interface on the computer.
  2. Click "Change Settings" on the left side.
  3. In the "Client Management" section click the "Configure Settings" button.
  4. Go to the "LiveUpdate" tab.
  5. Click the "Configure Proxy Options..." button at the bottom.
  6. Set your desired proxy options, then click OK.
