Problem
Restoring data from a VMDK that was backed up using Granular Restore Technology (GRT) is slower in the Backup 2010 R3 release than it was in the Backup Exec 2010 R2 release.
Solution
The software that handles this process was optimized to improve restore performance.
This issue is now resolved in Backup Exec 2010 R3 Hotfix 159965
