End of Standard Support (EOSS): In general, Symantec Corporation will address defects or enhancements in upcoming Security Updates rather than provide a patch on a previous security update. However, upon the customer’s request, Symantec Corporation will fix critical defects in a specific Security Update, as long it is prior to the End of Standard Support date of the Security Update. After the EOSS date, Symantec will diagnose the problem but will implement any required fixes or enhancements, including those for critical problems, in future Security Updates only. Fixes or enhancements will not be implemented in a Security Update after its End of Standard Support date

End of Partial Support (EOPS): If a customer contacts Symantec Corporation with a defect or enhancement request for a Security Update past the End of Partial Support date, Symantec is not obligated to diagnose the defect / enhancement. In such cases, customers will be expected to upgrade to a currently supported (preferably the latest) Security Update.

Security Update Support Policy: In general, Symantec Corporation will provide standard support for a Security Update for 18 months beyond its release date. After 18 months Symantec Corporation will provide partial support for an additional 12 months, after which time all support for that Security Update will cease.

The EOSS and EOPS dates for an SU depend on the release date of the SU. As shown in the table below, we have divided the SUs into 4 categories.

  1. All SUs after and including SU 35 will have standard support for 18 months beyond the release date of the SU. Partial support will continue for an additional 12 months.
  2. SUs 34 to 30 will have standard support for 12 months past this announcement date. Partial support will continue for an additional 12 months.
  3. SUs 22 to 29 will have standard support for 6 months past this announcement date. Partial support will continue for an additional 12 months.
  4. Standard support for SUs 21 and prior will end as of the date of this announcement. Partial support will continue for an additional 6 months.
