Problem

After updating an environment configured to backup VMware systems with Backup Exec 2010 R3 with Hotfixes 159965 and 164220, all of the VMware backups failed reporting the error message provide below.

An analysis using debug logging ( as per related article ) showed that the following security message was being reported:

vddkCreateVMWareSnapshot() Failure preparing VM for access: server '<server>' VM 'moRef=<snapshot>'. Error Text: 'Insufficient permissions in the host operating system' Error: '3014'
LP_ENV::createVMWareSnapshot(): failed, result = 0X200095BF

The second error listed below might be seen if your security has been customized beyond the current documented Backup Exec Requirements.
