The content database containing the document or file needed for restore can be redirected to an alternate Web Application in a different Sharepoint farm or can be redirected to an alternate SQL server and connected to an alternate Web Application in the production farm. Once the database is connected to another Web Application, the desired granular content can be extracted.
NOTE: When the Sharepoint content database displaying this issue resides in SQL 2000, the issue may be resolved with an upgrade to SQL 2005 or later. A new backup will need to be performed of the database in order for GRT restores to complete successfully.
