CCS Data Collector Query Engine fails with error: The location of the CCS Enterprise Configuration Service was not found

Issue



You cannot correctly install a Query Engine because of an error about the ECS not being located.


Error



"The location of the CCS Enterprise Configuration Service was not found".


Solution



The Query engine installation prompts for the ECS server to connect to.  Often this will auto-populate if the Query Engine is in the same domain as the ECS server.  If it auto-populaes and\or you enter the ECS server manually and receive the error above, check if there is a firewall engaged on the query engine host machine or somewhere between the query engine and the ECS server.   If the firewall cannot be disabled, then the query engine will need to be a Master Query engine and fixed ports will need to be utilized.  Rules for these fixed ports will need to be put in place on the firewall.
