Issue

DataInsight incorrectly reports some unknown folders on EMC Celerra filer.

Solution

Its solution is to apply a hotfix on top of DataInsight 2.5RP2. Please call Symantec Techical Support for the hotfix and please refer to Incident 2525188.  The hotfix is avaialble from the following URL:

https://sort.symantec.com/patch/detail/5482

If the systems are running DataInsight 2.0.1, please upgrade these systems to DataInsight 2.5.

Please install DataInsight 2.5RP2 on DataInsight Manager system, DataInsight Indexer system, and then on DataInsight Collector system. You do not need to install DataInsight 2.5RP1.

 README of the hotfix

OS: Windows

Etrack Incidents: 2525188

Errors/Problems Fixed:

For EMC Celerra,  shares which are configured to be seen by all cifs
servers on a data mover are not visible to cifs servers for other data movers.
Data Insight share discovery code incorrectly lists those shares against cifs
servers of all data movers on the EMC Celerra device.
(2525188) [Applies to: Collector]

Install/Uninstall Instructions:

Apply this hotfix on each Collector worker node connecting to EMC file servers.
This hotfix can be applied to Data Insight version 2.5RP2 only.

FILE AFFECTED BY THIS PATCH:

INSTALL_ROOT\DataInsight\bin\cel_util.exe
INSTALL_ROOT\DataInsight\pdb\cel_util.pdb

By default,  value of INSTALL_ROOT is "C:\Program Files\Symantec".

NOTE: Please keep a backup of the files  you are about to patch. This will be
required in case you want to rollback the patch.

Steps:
For each Collector worker node connecting to EMC file servers,  log onto the
server with Administrative privileges and perform the following steps:

1. Stop Data Insight services:
From the command prompt,  issue the following commands:

net stop DataInsightComm
net stop DataInsightWeb

NOTE: Depending on the type of Data Insight node,  some services might or might
not be present. Ignore error if the service could not be stopped because it is
not configured.

2. Unzip the patch files to a temporary folder. In this folder,  locate the
"patches" folder. The patch contains files for both 32bit and 64bit installs.
Select the appropriate folder based on the processor architecture of your
server. Files provided in the patch are in the same directory hierarchy as those
present on your system at: "INSTALL_ROOT\DataInsight".
Example: If you unzip hotfix to C:\temp,  it will create the following folders
under C:\temp:
C:\TEMP
+---README
+---patches
    +---32bit
        +---bin
        +---pdb
    +---64bit
        +---bin
        +---pdb
If you are patching a 32 bit server installed at "C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight",
copy entire contents under "C:\temp\patches\32bit" to
"C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight",  replacing the original files with those
from the patch.

3. Start Data Insight services:
From the command prompt,  issue the following commands:

net start DataInsightComm
net start DataInsightWeb

NOTE: Depending on the type of Data Insight node,  some services might or might
not be present. Ignore error if the service could not be started because it is
not configured.

Additional Notes:
Apply this hotfix to Data Insight 2.5 patched with Rolling Patch
'data_insight-2.5RP2' only. The Rolling Patch 'data_insight-2.5RP2'
is available at: https://sort.symantec.com/patch/detail/5458
