When trying to install 2010 R3 SP1 and error occurs "No valid source could be found for product Symantec Backup Exec"

Problem
Install fails when trying to apply Service Pack 1 for Backup Exec 2010 R3 with an error that a valid source cannot be found. Even after a path has been given to the installer.
Error
ERROR: Error 1706.No valid source could be found for product Symantec Backup Exec. The Windows Installer cannot continue.
Cause
During the install of the patch the installer is trying to copy files and cannot find path to the source media. This can be identified by checking the bkupinst.htm install log and check for the error above.
