Attempting to run a backups where the verify option is enabled on systems using a SATA 600 drive within a removable cage pass through connector as a recovery point storage device takes an unusually long time to complete or stalls approximately at 95% during the backup process. Backups without verification option enabled completes successfully in an acceptable amount of time. No errors are generated. When the backup job stalls the job has to be manually canceled.
Backup up to a network share or to a local USB attached drive completes with the verify and no performance issues.
Attempting to mount/open/or verify recovery point images created with or without verification from these alternate storage locations prove to be successful with good performance.
The following troubleshooting has been performed, but has not shown to resolve this issue:
- Uninstall and re-install the BESR software.
- Updating to the Symantec System Recovery (SSR) 2011.
No errors reported.
Microsoft Windows based OS
SATA 600 drive configured to be used in a removable cage pass through connector recovery point storage device.
Contact hardware vendor and obtain updated firmware and Windows driver or use an alternate storage location as specified above.
