Problem
Agentless Inventory Task does not work when using a Target/Filter, 0 resources applied, whereas using the ability to target a single device works.
Environment
Inventory Solution 7.1 SP1
Inventory Solution 7.1 SP2
Cause
This is a known issue.
Solution
This issue is fixed by applying a Point-fix created for this issue on 7.1 SP1, or SP2. *PLEASE select the appropriate version when applying this. There is no check within the PF to ensure you are applying it to the correct version!
NOTE: A Point-fix has not gone through the complete QA process. As such, not all regression scenarios have been tested and there may be issues not uncovered by testing of the fix. If you use it, understand that it is not fully guaranteed.
The fixed DLL is attached.
The instructions for applying the Point-fix are provided here:
- Open the RUN window and Navigate to “C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Altiris.NetworkInventoryTask\7.1.7521.0__6bcaccea886f7eee\"
- Rename “Altiris.NetworkInventoryTask.dll” as “temp.dll” and copy in the new DLL at the same location.
- Delete the renamed dll. To delete the renamed dll you need to stop “Altiris services”.
- Go to “{SMP Installation drive}:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\DAL” and delete all the entries from this folder, specially “Altiris.NetworkInventoryTask.Dal.dll” file. This is to reflect the code changes made in the new dll.
- To implement the changes, restart the “Altiris service” and “Altiris Object Host service” and restart IIS.
- Go to : “C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files” and clear all entries from the folder. To completely delete all the entries from this folder restart IIS.
- The fix is now in place.
