Issue

When running the intelligent updater for a Unix-based system, you get an error regarding the extraction

Cause

You have less than 1Gb of free space in your /tmp directory

Solution

Users with environments containing a /tmp directory of less than 1 gigabyte of disk space are advised to specify an alternative path to a location with at least 1 gigabyte of available disk space.

To specify this directory, run the following command:

export SYMANTEC_TMP=/path/to/TEMPWITHSPACE

NOTE: This will only be temporary. Once the system is rebooted or the user logs out, the variable will go back to the default of /tmp
