KNOWN ISSUE: Adobe Reader 10 hangs/fails to open PDF

Issue



 

Issues with the virtualized SharedDataEvents file path cause Adobe Reader 10 to either hang when opening a PDF or completely fail during the second launch.

Cause



 

The root cause of the issues is a QueryNameInformationFile operation on a .tmp file that is created by Adobe in the [TEMP] directory. When the query returns the name received is different than the name expected by Adobe.
This issue has already been fixed for future release. In the meantime, use the provided workaround.

Solution



 

1. Exclude .tmp files.
2. Add an Exclude directory entry of C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0 to the layer.
