Issue



Veritas Operations Manager Advanced (VOM-A) provides default logs that administrators can use to obtain task information that can help identify and troubleshoot issues. The following types of default logs are provided:

  • Installer
  • Data rollup
  • Web UI
  • Cognos
  • Business view import and export

Installer Log
C:\Program Files\Veritas\VRTSvomer\Install.log
VRTSsfmh package install log
C:\Program Files\Veritas\VRTSvomer\VRTSsfmhInstall.log
Configuration Log
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\VRTSsfmh\logs\er_config.log
Cognos Configuration Log
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\VRTSsfmh\logs\er_cognosconfig.log
Data rollup logs
Rollup process
Log file name: rollup_process_rollup_source_key.log
 
Description: This log file includes data rollup logging for archiving and deleting from the previous batch, starting a new rollup, and creating a new batch.
Most used section: Look for stderr or ERROR key word in this log file.
 
Location:
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\VRTSvomer\logs\etl\rollup_process
Rollup Management
Log file name: rollup_mgmt_rollup_source_name.log
 
Description: This log file includes data rollup logging for creating staging area, remote processing, and importing data to VOM-A database.
Most used section: Look for stderr or ERROR key word in this log file.

 Web user interface logs

Storage Management Web Console
Log file name: WebDebugLog.txt.0, WebServer.log
 
Description: These log files show console messages and are useful for debugging console issues.

Add source logs
Log file name: mhrun.log

On VOM-A server:

Cognos log files

Cognos server errors
Log file name: cogserver.log
 
Description: This log file contains all Cognos server errors.

Cognos Apache errors
Log file name: error.log
 
Description: This log file contains Cognos errors related to Apache
 
Location:
C:\Program Files\Veritas\VRTSvomer\Apache\logs

Business view log files: VOM-A provides default business view import and export related log files for administrator use. These log files are generated by scripts.

Log file name: import.log
 
Description: This log file captures all output from the script. The "timestamp" is in MMDDYYYYHHMMSS format.
 
Log file name: "view"_"type".rej
 
Description: This log file captures all of the rejected "type" records for the "view", where "type" is one of 'Host‘, 'Array', ‘File system’, or ‘Volume', and "view" is the base name of the view set.
