Problem
Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) based Restore from Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI) differential backup of a Virtual Machine fails with error “Final error: 0xe0009741 - Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images. Restores that use Granular Recovery Technology may not be available from this backup set.”
Error
0xe0009741 - Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images. Restores that use Granular Recovery Technology may not be available from this backup set
Solution
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2012 Revision 1798 Hotfix182237. See Related Articles Section for more information.
Workaround:
For existing backup sets, run a redirected restore of entire virtual machine selecting the Full and Differential backup set. Copy the data needed from the restored virtual machine.
For future backup sets:
- Run full backups.
- Run RAWS-based full and differential backups
Note : Same issue has been found in 2010 R3 during the restore of an incremental backup .
