Problem
When right-click on Hierarchy Management icon, it shows error message from webpage "{3.EN_US}: Object does not support property or method 'clear' [-2146827850]" and does not allow to setup a Hierarchy.
Error

Environment
Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2
Internet Explorer 9
Cause
Known Issue. The problem was with Internet Explorer 9 only.
To reproduce this you need:
1) IE Enhanced security configuration -> ON
2) NS with HTTPS
3) IE9
After that if you go to https://localhost/altiris/console (of course this site should be added to trusted zone) no ActiveX controls for menu will be downloaded (or prompted to download/install) and errors will be appeared in Hierarchy management/security role manager and in other places where ActiveX is used. This is because Enhanced security enables checkbox in IE9 “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” (Internet options->Advanced->Security) and IE9 can’t save downloaded ActiveX. This applicable only for IE9, all previous versions work fine with this checkbox. There is also KB from Microsoft for this issue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2549423. So from KB articles and blogs it appears that this behavior is by design.
Solution
This issue has been reported to the Symantec Development team.
This issue is caused by IE9 restrictions and can't be overridden by NS.
Workaround:
So to be able to download/install ActiveX in IE9 via HTTPS with Internet Explorer Enhanced Security checkbox on, you need to clear checkbox “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” under IE9>Tools>Internet Options>Security.
