Environment

Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2 32bit
Domino 8.5.2 32 bit
SMSDOM 8.0.9

Cause

A successful installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update package is required for SMSDOM 8.0.9 to work. The installation of this package, as part of the SMSDOM 8.0.9 package,  fails when performing a silent installation.

Solution

Symantec will provide a fix on a future release of SMSDOM.

Workaround:

  • Make sure Java is already installed on the platform
  • Download and install the vcredist_x86.EXE package from the following URL before silently installing SMSDOM:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26347

  • Install vcredist_x86.EXE from the command line interface using:
    • vcredist_x86.exe /q
  • Before rebooting, silently install SMSDOM 8.0.9 and reboot the host.
