Cannot start Symantec Critical System Protection IDS agent service on a Windows XP embedded system.
- When trying to manually start the service in Windows services applet, receive "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
- When trying to start the service by running "c:\program files\symantec\critical system protection\agent\ids\bin\sisidsservice.exe -start" in command window, receive "This application has failed to start because FLTLIB.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
Windows XP embedded
FLTLIB.DLL (Microsoft filter library) is missing from the system.
From a working Windows XP or Windows XP embedded system with the same level of service pack as the non-working system, copy c:\windows\system32\FLTLIB.DLL to the non-working system in c:\windows\system32 or c:\program files\symantec\critical system protection\agent\ids\bin\ folder.
Note: you may need to disable prevention to be able to copy files into c:\windows\system32 folder.
