Antivirus inventory from Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component does not populate certain fields

Issue



When using Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component (SEPIC), a computer that has a Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) agent installed onto it is selected to be reviewed (such as from Manage > Asset > Manage Configuration Items > Computers and Peripherals > Computer). When viewing the computer's Resource Manager (right click on the computer > Resource Manager), under the View menu > Inventory > Inventory data class > Software > Antivirus, many fields are not populated. These include:
 

  • Last Scan Time
  • Centrally Managed
  • Last Virus Definition Check
  • Real-Time Enabled
  • Server Name

Solution



This is a known defect. There is no method to resolve or work around this with the SEPIC product.

This is currently scheduled to be resolved in a future update to SEPIC.

An alternative is to use IT Analytics with the Endpoint Protection report pack. This provides eleven out of the box reports and additional custom reports can be made by the user. Note: This does not tie into the Altiris database but for this would go to the SEP SEM5 database. This then could result in a difference in what clients have a SEP agent installed as compared to what have been installed via SEPIC. But in either case, additional granular data is available by using IT Analytics.
