Issue

A directory called "Folder Settings" is visible in the output of a query using the Directories datasource in bv-Control for Windows.

Solution

When you customize a folder, Windows saves files necessary for that customization in a subfolder named Folder Settings. The Folder Settings folder is marked as hidden. If the "Hide protected operating system files" and "Do not show hidden files and folders" options are enabled, the Folder Settings folder disappears. The "Hide protected operating system files" and "Do not show hidden files and folders" options are enabled by default. To view data in the Folder Settings folder follow these steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
2. On the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders.
3. Click to clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK.

Additionally if you change anything for a folder and save it using "Customize", it creates a hidden file in that folder called Desktop.ini.
