Problem
Client is retaining the name of the original image that it was captured from but generating a new SID(s) for the image.
Environment
Deployment Solution 6.9 SP5 and 6.9 SP5 MR1
Cause
When Sysprep runs it creates an unattend file in the 'Windows\Panther' directory of the computer which remains there when the image is captured. This is the file directory that Sysprep uses when it deploys the image. As a result, the name in this unattend file is the one that will be used to name the computer when imaged.
In past versions of Deployment Solution we overwrote this file with our own unnattend answer file which renamed the computer based on serial number. This is no longer the case.
Solution
This is a known issue that is scheduled to be fixed in Service Pack 6.
Work around: In the 'Distribute disk image' task check the two configuration boxes at the bottom 'Automatically perform configuration task after completing this imaging task' and 'Boot to production to complete configuration task'. This will rename the client once it boots up after being imaged. *NOTE* The image must have an agent on it for this to work.
A second work around is to open the image using Image explorer and delete the Sysprep unattend file from the 'Windows\panther' directory.
