Problem
Can't add/edit a registry on Layer Properties on Japanese OS.
It can be reproduced with following steps.
- Start Workspace Virtualization Admin.
- Deactive a layer you would like to modify if it's actived.
- Open Layer Properties for the layer.
- Create a new Key on registry tab.
- After step3, the new key doesn't appear on the registry of Layer Properties.
Environment
Product:
Symantec Workspace Virtualization (SWV) 6.1 SP7 and later
OS:
Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise/Professional Edition x86 (Without Service Pack).
Cause
Symantec is currently researching.
Solution
Symantec is aware of this issue and will update this document when a solution becomes available.
Current workaround:
- Start Workspace Virtualization Admin.
- Deactive a layer you would like to modify if it's actived.
- Show the layer Details:
On View menu, check Details
- Check and write down Sublayer info
NOTE:
Registries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\_SWV_LAYER_<magicnumber> are registries on Layer Properties.
If RO=1 on Sublayer info shows, <magicnumber> is 1 for ready only registries on Layer Properties.
- Open Layer Properties for the layer to mount registries on Layer Properties.
- Start regedit
- With regedit, add/edit a regstry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\_SWV_LAYER_<magicnumber>.
- End regedit
- Close Layer Properties
- Active the Layer and check if the setting with the registry is available for the Layer application.
