Large temp files are left behind during a scheduled scan.

Technical Solution




Extremely large files, on the order of 10s or 100s of GB, are left behind in the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\I2_LDVP.TMP folder after a scheduled scan.


The cloning of large files during the scan processes would run the machine out of disk space during the scan and prevent SEP from deleting the files.


This issue has been fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Release Update 7 (RU7) Maintenance Patch 3 (MP3) and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 2 (RU2).  For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read TECH 103088: Obtaining an upgrade or update for Symantec Endpoint Protection or Symantec Network Access Control
