When backing up VMWare virtual machines with the Differential method, the backup will complete successfully even if the Full Backup fails or is canceled. A restore of the Diferential will complete successfully but will fail to boot with "Operating System not found"
This issue has been addressed in Hotfix TECH176937
AVVI: Even if the last full backup failed/canceled, the next differential backup works successfully and backs up blocks changed since the last failed/canceled full backup.
