Issue



When attempting to backup a Microsoft SQL Server 2008  / 2008 R2 Datancenter edition of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Compression is enabled in the backup job SQL Compression is not used and the below message is logged in the Job Log


Error



Microsoft SQL Server Agent: The SQL Compression option is disabled; it is not supported by this version of SQL Server

If debugging is enabled for Backup Exec, the following message is logged.
SQL2_Connect worked.
SQL Agent: Version String { 10.50.1617.0 }
SQL edition returned: Data Center Edition (64-bit)
SQL2 Agent: Unable to set SQL flavor correctly. <Data Center Edition (64-bit)>
