Problem
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) settings need to be changed or configured to synchronize the SPC 2 appliance with a specific time server.
Environment
SPC 2
Cause
The configuration of the NTP settings occur during setup of the SPC 2 appliance, but due to the locked down nature of the SPC appliance there is no method to change or update the settings without technical support assistance.
Solution
The attached PowerShell script will launch the default Windows 2008 R2 Regional Settings control panel, allowing the configuration of the SPC 2 appliance's Date, Time, and Internet Time (NTP) settings.
Contact support if a new script is needed.
- For virtual machines create an ISO that contains the script file in it's ZIP format.
You can use a program like folder2iso to create an ISO.
For Physical appliances put the ZIP file on a USB drive and plug it in to a USB port on the appliance. - Mount the ISO through the vShere client or place the ISO on your datastore, then mount it.
- Logon to the Operating System Console.
- Click on the "Install Protection Center Update" (Top Item).
- Browse to the attached CD/DVD, or the USB drive that has been detected.
- Select the file, and select ok.
- Select RUN
- The script will run and you will be presented with the Date/Time GUI so that you can change the Date, Time, or Internet Time settingss.
- Select the Internet Time tab, and then select Change Settings.
- Enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), or IP address of your Time Source (AD Server, Time Server, etc.)
- Select the option to Update Now, and wait for the message signifying success or failure of the synchronization.
- Verify the time now showing in the SPC Web Console, if you wish.
- Select OK several times, then close the Date and Time Interface.
- Log Off of the Console.
