SAN Transport mode removed from available transport modes for restores using the Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI)

Symantec and VMware had identified a background problem against how SAN communication for restores was handled between Backup Exec and VMware. Symptoms of the issue would vary, but at least one result was that a restore was successful, though the virtual machine itself failed to boot/start. This issue only affected restores, backups using the SAN transport mode were unaffected.
At that time, we did not believe it could actually be fixed. Due to this issue Symantec had withdrawn the support for SAN transport restores using Backup Exec 2010 R3 and Backup Exec 2012.
Select the NBD restore option even though a SAN backup was performed.
VMWare has come out with a patch to address the potential issue on their end. For more information please see the VMware document listed below.
