Issue

Restore completes successfully but nothing is restored when using Redirected file level restores for Domino incremental backup sets.

Cause

Incremental backups for Domino  would only contain log files unless there are changes that have occurred in the database.

Solution

  • If  Redirected file level restore for Domino incremental backup set has logs backed up, we would need to make selections accordingly in order to restore the log files.
  • Point in time recovery is not possible when using Redirected file level restores for Domino backup sets. (This includes Full and incremental backup sets.)
  • A redirected restore using the Lotus Domino agent is merely a file restore and will not log roll-forward

Note:- Domino redirected restores are file level restores and there is no Domino recovery applied. Restoring transaction logs to the Domino logs folder by redirected restore should be done in case of Disaster Recovery only which would require recovery from Domino side.
