Permissions issue

Solution

This is the result of insufficient NTFS permissions on the target computer. The most common cause is a lack of required permissions on the C:\Program Files folder. Perform the following steps to ensure that Administrators, SYSTEM and CREATOR OWNER have Full Control of the Program Files directory:

On Windows 2000/XP

  1. Open Windows Explorer, right-click the Program Files folder, and then click Properties.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Confirm that Administrators, SYSTEM, and CREATOR OWNER are set to Full Control.
  4. Click OK, and then close Windows Explorer.

After you have granted Full Control to Administrators, SYSTEM and CREATOR OWNER, ensure that you are logged on as a member of the Administrator group, and then install Symantec Endpoint Protection
