GRT restore of delivery receipts in Exchange 2010 fails with following error :


Error



Error in the job log:

Error writing file data

Error in SGMON (or beremote debug) on  CAS:

"LP_ENV::MsgError: error 0xe000fe2d processing object Database?MailboxName?Top of Information Store?Inbox?Subject of the email"

Error in EWSdebug log:

Exception in Saving Properties Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. 


Environment



Microsoft Exchange 2010


Cause



This issue will come up with emails which were corrupt at the time of backup itself. These emails cannot be saved even from outlook and will error out when a save as operation is performed to save the email in .msg format.


Solution



Since the emails were corrupt at the time of backup, GRT restore is not possible.

Try to restore entire database to the Recovery Database and from there emails can be retrieved using powershell.
