Technical Solution

An attempt to add a Microsoft Sharepoint server farm using the Sharepoint web server's IP address instead of name will result in an error:

Add Server Wizard

Either the Sharepoint server farm already exists in the servers list or Backup Exec cannot access the server farm.  Check to see if the Sharepoint farm exists in the list of servers or check the farm's web server name and credentials.

When adding a Sharepoint farm in Backup Exec, the Sharepoint web server name is used in the query to Sharepoint for its active web servers.  An IP address will not work in this query and is not supported with Backup Exec 2012.

When adding a Microsoft Sharepoint server farm, supply the Sharepoint web server netbios name.
