Problem
Cannot configure a volume as disk storage because the folder is already used by another storage device
Error
This volume cannot be configured as disk storage because the folder is already being used for another storage device. Delete the other storage device if you want to configure the volume locally.
Cause
In a Central Admin Server Option environment, a disk storage device was configured on a network share in the folder \BEData on another Backup Exec server. However, this is the same path that Backup Exec uses to configure a disk storage device on the local server. This error occurs when attempting to create a disk storage device on the local server.
Solution
To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
- Delete any disk storage devices that use the \BEData folder on the local media server.
- Configure a disk storage device by using the drive letter or mount point that is on the Backup Exec server on which the disk resides locally.
- Share the configured disk storage device between the two Backup Exec servers.
