I. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

II. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
=========================

Use the following procedure to download the OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release on
Windows. To download OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release

1)  Download the OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release from the Symantec Support
    Web site into a local temporary (/tmp) directory.

    You can download the following files that correspond to the specific
    OpsCenter component that you want to upgrade:

    -  OpsCenter Server - OpsCtr_Server_7.1.0.4<platform>.zip
    -  OpsCenter Agent - OpsCtr_Agent_7.1.0.4_<platform>.zip
    -  OpsCenter ViewBuilder - OpsCtr_ViewBuilder_7.1.0.4_<platform>.zip

2)  Extract the applicable zip file by double-clicking on it. For example, if
    you want to install OpsCenter Server software, double-click
    OpsCtr_Server_7.1.0.4_<platform>.zip

    That creates a number of files that include the Setup.exe file.

III. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
==============================

Use the following procedures to upgrade the OpsCenter 7.1 components to
OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 on Windows host systems.

Before you install this Maintenance Release, please review the following items:

   -  Symantec recommends that you stop all the OpsCenter Server services
      before installing 7.1.0.4 by following below steps:
   
      1. Open command prompt
      2. Navigate to <installdir>\OpsCenter\server\bin
      3. Run opsadmin.bat stop   

      This recommendation is not applicable when you upgrade to 7.1.0.4 cluster.

   -  You must not run any other installation while installing
      OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 components. Additionally, after an installation is
      complete, you should wait for some time before you install other
      OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 components.

   -  If you try to install OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 components on a system where
      OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 is already installed, the installer runs in a
      Maintenance mode and lets you repair or remove the OpsCenter 7.1.0.4
      component that is installed on your system.

To install OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4:

1)  Log on to the OpsCenter system as Administrator.

2)  Navigate to the temporary location where you extracted the zip file.

3)  Run Setup.exe by double-clicking on the icon from File Manager or Windows
    Explorer. You can alternatively run the Setup.exe from the command prompt.

    The Welcome Page of the Installation Wizard appears.

4)  The Installation Wizard detects an existing installation of OpsCenter
    Server 7.1 on the system. The following message is displayed on the
    Welcome screen:

       The Installation has detected that the following software is
       already installed on your system: Symantec OpsCenter Server: Version 7.1.
       Click Next to continue.

5)  Read the license agreement, check ‘I accept the terms of the license
    agreement’ and then click Next.

    The installer shows the summary of the installation settings.

6)  Check Save summary to option to save the installation summary. Click
    Browse to save the installation summary in your preferred location.

7)  Click Install to begin the installation. The installer installs the
    OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4 software.

    After a successful installation, you can view the installation logs
    or view the Readme.

8)  Click Finish.

    The installation logs are generated in the following location:

    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Symantec\OpsCenter\
    INSTALLLOGS\OpsCenterMaintPackInstallLog.htm

    Symantec recommends that you save the OpsCenterMaintPackInstallLog.htm
    file before you install any other OpsCenter component. That is because
    this file gets overwritten when you install another OpsCenter component.

To upgrade to Symantec OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 silently on Windows host systems:

A silent installation avoids the need for interactive input. A silent
installation uses a response file to automate OpsCenter installation. Use a
silent installation when you need to perform an identical installation on
several servers.

You must create a response file first and then use the file to perform a silent
installation. The procedure for creating a response file requires that you run
through the Installation Wizard. The values that you specify in the Wizard
pages are saved to the response file. You can also edit the response file if
required.

Note the following points about silent installation:
  - Silent installation of OpsCenter is only supported on Windows platforms.
  - Silent installation of OpsCenter is not supported on clusters.


To upgrade silently to OpsCenter Server:

1)  Log on as administrator to the system where you want to upgrade OpsCenter
    7.1 server software to 7.1.0.4.

2)  Open the command prompt on your system. Navigate to the temporary
    location where you extracted the zip file.

3)  Enter the following command:

       SETUP.EXE -NoInstall

    Note that the switch -NoInstall command is case sensitive.

    This command starts the Installation Wizard where you can specify your
    preferences. Note that the Installation Wizard creates the response file
    based on your inputs and does not install the product.

4)  The Symantec OpsCenter Installation Wizard appears. The Installation
    Wizard detects an existing installation of OpsCenter Server 7.1 on the
    system. The following message is displayed on the Welcome screen:

       The Installation has detected that the following software is already
       installed on your system: Symantec OpsCenter Server: Version 7.1
       Click Next to continue.

5)  Read the license agreement, check ‘I accept the terms of the license
    agreement’ and then click Next.

    The installer shows the summary of the installation settings.

6)  Check Save summary to option to save the installation summary. Click
    Browse to save the installation summary in your preferred location.

7)  Click Install. Note that clicking Install does not install the product.

    The Installation Status screen is displayed.

8)  Click Finish.

    A response file named LangMaintPack-<DD-MM-YY-HH-MIN-SS>.XML is created
    at the following location:

       %TEMP%\Symantec\OpsCenter

    This XML file can be used to install OpsCenter Server software on multiple
    machines.

    Note: If you have generated the response file on a 32-bit machine, use this
    response file to install OpsCenter Server software on 32-bit machines only.
    Similarly, if you have generated the response file on a 64-bit machine, use
    this response file to install OpsCenter Server software on 64-bit machines
    only.

9)  On the command prompt, ensure that you are in the directory where
    SETUP.EXE is located.

10) Enter the following command to run the silent installation:

    SETUP -Silent -RespFile <path of the response file for OpsCenter Server>

    Example: Setup -Silent -RespFile C:\LangMaintPack-19-04-10-06-11-31.xml

    Note that the switches -Silent and -RespFile are case sensitive.

11) The installation logs are generated at the following location:

       %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\SYMANTEC\OPSCENTER\INSTALLLOGS\
       OpsCenterMaintPackInstallLog.htm

    Symantec recommends that you save the OpsCenterMaintPackInstallLog.htm
    file after you have installed OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4. This is because
    this file gets overwritten when you install another OpsCenter component.

    After successful installation, you can see Symantec OpsCenter
    Server 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release in Add/Remove Programs.

To upgrade silently to OpsCenter Agent:

About editing the OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 response file

You can edit the response file to change any inputs that you provided to the
Installation Wizard. The silent installation is based on these inputs. To edit
the response file, open it and modify the Value field for the applicable
install property.

The following are the contents of a sample response file:

    <OpsCenter_MaintPack>
    <InstallProperty Name="RAN_SETUP" Value="1" />

For example, you can modify the OpsCenter installation location in this
response file by changing the value of INSTALLDIR property from
C:\Program Files\Symantec to D:\Symantec.

Note that the text that you enter or modify in the response file is case
sensitive.

You must save the response file after you modify it.

Note: Symantec recommends that you do not change the value of RAN_SETUP.

About tracking the progress of a silent installation and troubleshooting tips

When a silent installation is in progress, you can see SETUP.EXE process running
in the Processes tab of the Windows Task Manager. In addition, you will also
find multiple msiexec.exe processes running in the Task Manager.

You can also track if a silent installation is in progress by checking the size
of Vxinst.log file. The size of Vxinst.log file increases as silent installation
progresses. The Vxinst.log file is generated in:

    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\SYMANTEC\OPSCENTER\INSTALLLOGS.

To install OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4 on a cluster:

1)  Before you install the OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release, ensure that
    Symantec OpsCenter is at release level 7.1 and configured to run in a
    cluster.

2)  Ensure that the OpsCenter group is online.

3)  Freeze the OpsCenter group. Use the following command to freeze the
    OpsCenter group:

       hagrp -freeze <oc_group> -persistent

       where <oc_group> is the name of the OpsCenter group.

4)  Install OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4 on all the inactive nodes of the cluster.

5)  Install OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4 on the active node of the cluster.

6)  Unfreeze the OpsCenter group. Use the following command:

       hagrp -unfreeze <oc_group>

       where <oc_group> is the name of the OpsCenter group.

7)  If the cluster is in a faulted state, clear the fault.

8)  Take the OpsCenter resource group offline.

    See the cluster documentation for more information.

9)  Bring the OpsCenter resource group online. Also verify that OpsCenter
    can failover properly in the cluster.

IV. UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
==========================

Uninstalling OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4

1)  Log on to the target host as a user with administrator privileges.

2)  In the Windows Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.

3)  Click Symantec OpsCenter Server 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release and click Remove.

4)  Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation and remove Symantec OpsCenter
    Server 7.1.0.4 from your computer.

To uninstall Symantec OpsCenter Agent 7.1.0.4

1)  Log on to the target host as a user with administrator privileges.

2)  In the Windows Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.

3)  Click Symantec OpsCenter Agent 7.1.0.4 Maintenance Release and click Remove.

4)  Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation and remove Symantec OpsCenter
    Agent 7.1.0.4 from your computer.

4)  Click Next to continue and remove Symantec OpsCenter View Builder 7.1.0.4
    from your computer.
