Cause

Proper procedure for dynamically removing and adding LUNs is not followed.

vxconfigd in VxVM 5.1SP1 incorrectly claims newly added LUNs under a single DMP node. Thus vxconfigd corrupts DMP database in memory.

Solution

Its solution is in Storage Foundation (SF) 5.1SP1RP2P2HF5. Please upgrade Storage Foundation 5.1SP1 to Storage Foundation 5.1SP1RP2, then please apply  SF 5.1SP1RP2P2, and then the hotfix VxVM  5.1SP1RP2P2HF5.

To avoid this issue, please follow the proper procedure to dynamically remove or add LUNs.  Please refer to http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH76872.

TECHALERT http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=AL1166
Newly added disks in VxVM 5.1 SP1 are incorrectly being claimed under single dmpnode which may cause data corruption.
