Unexpected Placeholder (PH) recall when NetApp PH is accessed from Windows 7 Client

With Windows 7 clients, when using explorer to access the PH on a NetApp CIFS share, if a left click is used to select one PH or the properties of the PH is opened via right-click the PH will be recalled unexpectedly.


Cause



Changes introduced in Windows 7 result in a request for file content triggering a PH recall.


Solution



Workaround

Disable the Windows Explorer Details Pane and Preview Pane

Windows File Explorer ---- Organize ----- Layout ------ Details Pane

Windows File Explorer ---- Organize ----- Layout ------ Preview Pane
