Issue



While Uninstalling 12.1 Beta Version or 12.1.671.4971, receiving error

"Error 1921. Service Symantec Real Time Storage Protection (SRTSP) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services."

Environment



WinXP ServicePack 3 and SEP 12.1.601.4699.

Windows 2003 and SEP 12.1 671.4971


Cause



 Symantec AutoProtect Driver (SRTSP.sys) still installed on the machine and cannot be stopped.

 


Solution



1) Check in the services.msc if the Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Management Client are running properly and in started state.

2) Try restarting the client machine

3) Check in the Control Panel >> System >>  Hardware >> Device Manager >> Click View >> Click Show Hidden Devices >> Under Non - Plug and Play Drivers >> Check for SRTSP >> Uninstall the same.
